The people behind the numbers

When I meet people outside of PlattForm, and I explain I work in the Media department, I often have to go a step further to explain to them exactly who we are. “You know the commercials you see during the daytime for schools in your areas? Chances are the PlattForm Media department was involved.” Sometimes I’ll get a flash of recognition and sometimes I’ll get more questions probing into what exactly the career college sector is.

The best of both Lori's

I love my baby girl. There is not a second I spend with her that I wish she was asleep in bed or that her daddy was playing with her. There are many times when she is asleep that I go in to just watch her sleep. And if I’m not watching her sleep, I will go to the computer and look through the hundreds of adorable photos that I’ve taken of her in the passed 8 months since her birth (and yes, that includes photos that I took while watching her sleep!). I am obsessed!

Legacy

Three years ago, a horrific and needless accident claimed the life of one of PlattForm’s video editors, Jon U. And since the Video Production team was a close-knit team, it hit everyone particularly hard. That whole week was a mind-numbing blur of grief, raw emotions and reflection.

Fatness instructor

Besides being a phenomenal Writer/Director here at PlattForm, I’m also a certified (and certifiable) fitness instructor and personal trainer on the side. It’s a commonly known fact because 1) I tell everyone and 2) I cajole a lot of my co-workers to take my classes.

(Suckers.)

Now it’s worth mentioning that people always say the same thing when I mention the fitness thing. They tend to blurt out (always with the same incredulous look on their face), “You’re a fitness instructor??!!” That comment tends to be followed up with three nonchalant blinks and a mouth agape.

PForm Team

Or at least that is what I thought when I signed up for this year's Adwars… Boy was I wrong! First, the leader of our esteemed team was Michael Mackie. Brilliant. Dashing. Tyrant. Mackie has a competitiveness running through his veins. He might seem like a gentle giant but make no mistake; he is ruthless when it comes to trivia – ad trivia to boot.

Take advantage of PlattForm’s new additional benefits!

It’s easy to see that PlattForm loves its employees. Any outsider could take a lap around our halls and tell that we are some very well cared for workers! Well Mommy & Daddy PlattForm have decided to take pampering their PlattFormers to another level. Additional benefits kick off April 1st.

Ring my bell!

Well, it’s official. I’m the most popular boy in the whole school. I just went to add a contact to my cell phone and it said “FULL”. I didn’t even know that was possible. Moreover, I didn’t even know I knew 500 people (most with multiple phone numbers).

So I started scrolling down the Phone Tree of Love. Seems I’ve met quite a few people over my last five years at PlattForm. And surprisingly, I’ve cajoled most of them in to (foolishly) giving me their digits.

Getting the Business types and the creative types to play nice: Part 3

The last part of this series has to do with feedback, from both the client and users as well as the creative and business types. This should go without saying, but gathering accurate and meaningful feedback is one of the most important aspects of continuing to please clients and effectively meet their needs. Making sure nothing is "lost in the translation" between the client and the creative department is of the utmost importance when delivering feedback.
