CCC’s 5th Birthday Party: A Smashing Success
Legend has it that in the bottom of the fifth inning, in the third game of the 1932 World Series, Ruth pointed to a spot above the center of the Wrigley Field fence, and cracked a home run into that exact spot, leading the Yankees to sweep the World Series.
On Friday, February 3, in the third floor break room at PlattForm Advertising, the attack that Charlie Groninger inflicted on the Career College Central 5-year piñata is quickly becoming a legend in its own right. On only the second swing of the morning, Charlie took his five dizzying spins like a champ and stumbled unsteadily toward the hanging ‘5’ piñata, then swung for the fences.
The paper mache ‘5’ blew apart, and candy and cash hit the wall with a startling force.Watch it here.
The audience startled … laughed nervously … and then realized that there was cash and candy on the floor! Mass frenzy followed. Those who were momentarily disappointed about not getting their own swing at the piñata were quickly placated by the donuts, coffee, and swag available to celebrate Career College Central’s fifth print anniversary.
Before January of 2007, the career college sector didn’t realize how badly it needed a place to share its news, information and opinions. Positive, insightful stories from within the sector were hard to come by, and even more difficult to share on a large enough scale.
PlattForm Advertising founder Michael Platt saw what needed to be done and, with the help of industry experts at PlattForm and at career colleges around the country, set out to create from scratch exactly what the sector needed.
Over the past five years, Career College Central has become what it always intended to be – the definitive voice of the career college sector. Today, the magazine is distributed to a print readership of 15,000 and reaches an online monthly readership of over 5,000 school executives, owners and professionals, educators, vendors, potential clients, students, graduates and employers. Our LinkedIn group surpassed 2,600 members at the end of 2011, further broadening the magazine’s reach. With a readership this size, the magazine has an opportunity to spread its proverbial wings and soar.
Starting in 2012, Career College Central will begin to focus on bigger, better, broader-reaching things. Want to see what the next five years have in store for Career College Central? This is a perfect time to become a part of the CCC community if you haven’t already.
