Miller's Time - Harris Miller resigns from APSCU
The news came today and came swiftly.
Harris N. Miller, CEO and President of the Association of Private Sector Colleges and Universities (APSCU), resigned effective today, June 17, 2011.
Miller has led APSCU for the last four years during a time period that can only be described as tumultuous. His tenure will certainly be remembered for the battles waged with Congress, the Department of Education and the Obama Administration over Gainful Employment.
Without question, Miller’s leadership, the actions of the board and association members are greatly responsible for carrying the flag for career colleges and ensuring changes were made to the GE rule.
However, as we’re learning, the devil is in the details as schools are scrambling to understand what it all means and what a new normal looks like. Meanwhile, the fear is real that the rule is opening Pandora’s Box filled with more legislation.
Where do we go from here?
Brian Moran, APSCU’s Executive Vice President of Government Affairs and General Counsel, will serve as interim President of APSCU. And the battle to have GE declared unconstitutional, as well as operate within the GE Rule, will continue.
